Our Current Board Members
Henry Zelones OAM LGM JP
Henry Zelones has been a member of the Armadale Business Association Chamber of Commerce since 1977. He ran several local businesses under his Trionix brand and established his first electronic servicing business in Gosnells in 1971, Trionix Retravision in 1974 in Kelmscott, Trionix TV Rentals in 1976 and relocated Trionix Services from Gosnells to the Kelmscott industrial estate in 1977. He relocated his Retravision to Jull St Armadale in 1979. Henry previously served as President of the Armadale Chamber of Commerce from 1984 to 1990 and again from 1997 to 1999. Henry represented the Armadale Chamber on the Board of the Federated Chambers of Commerce during his tenure as President in the 80’s. In 2009 he became a founding member of the Armadale Region Business Assassination.
In 1989 Henry was elected to the City of Armadale Council, served as the City’s Planning Committee Chairman for 18 years and as the Mayor of the City of Armadale from 2011 to 2019. Due to his increased work load as Mayor, Henry closed Trionix in 2012, but kept his membership through the Office of the Mayor. His other experiences at a State level was on the Board of the WA Local Government Association 13 years, Heritage Council of WA 6 years, a Commissioner with Western Australian Planning Commission for 10 years. Henry retired from the Council in October 2019.
In January 2020 Henry was elected as Chairman of the Board.
Vicki Clarkson – Vice President and Justice of the Peace
Vicki has owned a number of businesses in the area including a Child Care centre, Restaurant and bookkeeping business. Vicki is a Director and Life Skills Consultant with Skilled4life where she, and her business partner, teach life skills to young and older adults. The business also run Resume Building, Retirement Ready and Personal Organisational workshops.Vicki has a Diploma Sales & Marketing, a Diploma Business Marketing & Management, Cert 3 Bookkeeping as well as a Cert 2 Hospitality Operations .Vicki was on the original steering committee of Business Armadale (ARBA) in 2009 and was a committee member for 6 years and and was appointed to the Board in 2017.
Bernadette O’Connor – Secretary – ANZ Bank
Bernadette is the Bank Manager at ANZ Armadale and has worked for ANZ for 32 years.She holds a Certificate 4 in Business Front line Management. Her most enjoyable aspect of her role is the many customers she meets from all walks of life and she really enjoys working in the City of Armadale, and loves the community spirit. Bernadette has many hobbies and you might meet her out wandering through the beautiful hills on the weekends enjoying running, hiking and taking time to read and she also does some voluntary work.
Joanna Minney – Treasurer
Joanna’s clients have the benefit of her extensive experience in administration and accounts management and tax preparation. Prior to becoming a bookkeeper and operating her own small business at First Class Accounts Gosnells, she worked close to a decade for a large Australian transport and vehicle processing company in the role of State Administration/Accounts Manager. She also has an excellent understanding of the tax environment, having worked as a tax preparation officer and in customer service at the ATO.
Joanna considers herself to be an all-rounder, with particular expertise in the analysis of financial results and reporting and improving business processes and procedures. While able to work across a variety of industries, she has extensive experience within the transport, motor vehicle and sport and leisure industries. She enjoys building long-term relationships with her clients, however, her experience also means that she is a perfect fit to assist with one-off set ups and special projects
Craig Renshaw – Simplicity Funerals
Craig Renshaw returned to the Board in October 2017 after previously in roles such as Vice-President, Membership Chairman and Board Member. Craig is the Location Manager for Simplicity Funerals in Kelmscott, where he has worked collectively for just over 20 years. He has been a funeral director for 37 years and is now a Master Funeral Director and is a past President of the AFDA. Simplicity Funerals has been a constant Sponsor over the years and Craig brings a huge amount of event, function and organizational experience to the board and many of the events held through-out the year.
Kristie Bell – Membership Manager
Natalie Crosswell – Future Steps Financial Planning
Natalie is the Managing Director of Future Steps Financial Planning; a local Financial Planning practice, located on Prospect Road in Armadale. She has lived and worked in the area of Armadale for over 15 years having lived in Byford, Armadale and Mount Richon. As part of the financial planning process, Natalie looks at a client’s lifestyle goals and objectives to create a tailored financial plan specifically for them. Natalie provides needs-based advice to clients on a wide range of issues such as superannuation, debt reduction, wealth management and investment strategies, risk products, estate planning, life insurance and asset protection. Natalie and her team have a genuine desire to help anyone in need of financial guidance or assistance.
Natalie joined Business Armadale in 2017 and became a Board member in 2018. She currently represents Business Armadale as Deputy chairperson for the Community Reference Group associated with the new Police Station and Court House, scheduled for building to commence late 2019.
Marcus Pobjoy MP Insurance Services Pty Ltd.
Marcus has been in the Insurance Industry for 30 years and has experience working in the London and European markets as well as extensive experience across all aspects of insurance. He has been involved with the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) for over 15 years and is a past Chairman of the WA NIBA Divisional Committee Marcus is a Qualified Practicing Insurance Broker, a Senior Associate of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance and also has a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking) and a Diploma of Financial Services (General Insurance). Marcus enjoys spending time with his three children Blake, Tara and Dyson and his wife Ell. He is actively involved in his children’s sporting activities and also enjoys taekwondo, playing golf, boating, watching AFL and cricket. Marcus served as President of Business Armadale 2017 to 2020.
Karen Clarke – Executive Officer – Business Armadale
Karen has been appointed as our new Executive Officer and comes from a varied background. Karen has extensive experience in planning, strategy, business development, marketing, financial management, human resources and administration. As well as her local knowledge and networking skills she also has great qualifications that will assist both the board and members of Business Armadale. Karen has a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources, Diploma in Business and is also enrolled in a Certificate III Business Administration (Medical). And on top of that she is a qualified Health and Safety Officer. Karen is also currently the Stall Coordinator for the Roleystone Markets where she overseas the market stall vendors and ensures that they have a wide variety of handmade products and produce.
